UTS科学考察

In Term 2, MGS has two excursions to the University of Technology, Sydney. The juniors went on Tuesday. We went on foot through Chinatown. We were met in the lab by the UTS lab technicians who initially trained the student in lab safety. We all put on lab coats and goggles.

The technicians and teachers took the students through demonstrations and self-guided experiments, including biology, chemistry and physics. Highlights included making objects from casein plastics and determining the speed of sound via a tuning fork and resonance tube.

Students learned the skills of measuring, observing and recorded data, which they later processed and drew conclusions from.

The seniors went to UTS on Friday. These were the biology, chemistry and physics classes. There were some fascinating physics demonstrations including an anti-gravity electric force.

Overall, the students gained valuable experience in a university environment and had a fun excursion. We thank UTS for their enthusiastic assistance.
